Fred Edwards Trust – nurturing leadership for a fairer future

Curious Communities and Critical Citizens – Popular Education for Empowerment in Scotland: Report of the Fred Edwards Trust’s 2015 Programme

During 2015, the Trust undertook a programme of work, building on the themes of critical citizens and empowered communities that had emerged the previous year.  We have produced this report of our year’s activities in the hope that it will challenge, inform and inspire all those who, like us, want to promote and support effective active citizenship and empowered communities across all sectors of Scottish society.

We are grateful to Perth & Kinross Council and Scottish Government, who provided financial support for the 2015 event, which enabled us to waive the registration fee for unpaid/voluntary community activists.  We are also grateful to our partners in Highlander and the Scottish Community Development Trust, for their input, advice and practical support.

We aim to encourage and support active citizenship based on the principles of social justice, ecological integrity, economic literacy and a global view.  We hold an Annual event to promote the principles of the trust.

Please note that we are not a grant-making trust.
